Lavender Lemonade



When I was younger, I had a terrible sweat problem. While other 14 year old girls were glowing in the summer sun, I was red faced and sweating my brains out, checking for pit stains every 5 seconds (the worst). I never understood how someone could stand in the heat all day and not have an ounce of sweat on them at all. Sitting in moist high school class rooms, my butt sticking to the plastic chair in my denim shorts. There is honestly nothing worse (well… maybe somethings) than sitting in a hot classroom in a class you don’t care about, listening to the teacher blab on and on about who knows what. I think everyone can vouch for that one.

04Back then, I didn’t know how to help myself out in the heat. But now. Oh yes. I’ve figured it out. Lemonade. LAVENDER lemonade to be exact. Lavender has this amazingly fancy quality to it, when really it is so simple to use. Isn’t that always the way? Not to mention you can buy it in bulk for pretty cheap since it weighs next to nothing. I got mine at Noah’s. If anyone was wondering.



This lemonade has a subtle lavender flavour (I didn’t want to overwhelm all y’all). But it is still very present. In fact, I’m drinking some right now.

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 cup water
3/4 cup agave nectar
1 1/2 tbsp dried lavender
4 cups filtered water

1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, heat 1 cup water with agave nectar until warmed and the syrup is mixed into the water. Add lavender, cover and let steep for 10 minutes or so. Longer if you like a stronger lavender flavour.
2. Strain the lavender through a fine mesh sieve. With a spoon, squish the lavender to make sure you get all the syrup and flavour out before you toss it away.
3. In a large pitcher, add lemon juice and filtered water, mix lavender syrup mixture in with a wooden spoon. Garnish with lemon slices.
