It feels like forever since I last posted (I’ve been confined to my bed due to a very nasty cold…). As soon as I started feeling better, I jumped back on the workout and healthy eating bandwagon (I won’t lie… I ate pizza and bad carbs all week long…). I had previously been doing the Insanity program (if anyone has heard of or tried this, it’s hard!!!), but I decided that I would start a new workout program instead (although I was a mere 2 weeks away from finishing) as I had been put a week behind in my training schedule. This time I’m trying Turbo Fire and it’s oh so awesome! I highly suggest you try it (I love it and I’ve only been doing it for two days…).
Since I am now back on my nutritious path, I decided to make a delicious tropical smoothie as a snack today and it deserves some love. I have to admit, I know how to make a mean smoothie.
Handful of ice
1/2 cup fresh pineapple, cut into chunks
1/2 medium sized banana, cut into chunks
1/2 cara cara orange, peeled & cut into chunks
1/4 cup almond milk
1 tbsp plain, non fat Greek yogurt
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp flax seed
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1. In a blender, pulse the ice until crushed.
2. Add the pineapple, banana, orange chunks, almond milk, yogurt, honey, flax seed, and cinnamon and blend until smooth and creamy; approximately 45 seconds – 1 minute.
You could try this smoothie for a bright way to start your day, or just as a healthy snack!
